What is cone beam technology? Cone beam is a new high-resolution three dimensional radiographic imaging of the jaw and teeth. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) or Cone-Beam Volumetric Tomography (CBVT) produces an image similar to that of a medical CT scan but with a fraction of the radiation dosage. The images produced provide essential information of oral structures for proper diagnosis and treatment. The information gathered from the CBCT is crucial in the treatment planning of dental implants, removal of wisdom teeth, and/or jaw pathologies. The data from the CBCT is reconstructed into a 3-D image which allows a precise implant placement in the jaw. Dr. Garine uses the Galileos cone beam machine manufactured by Sirona and the Sidexis 3-D software for proper diagnosis.
