In the event of missing all teeth, dental implants are used to avoid the need for a conventional denture. In this situation, two options are available depending on the patient’s requests, as well as, the amount of available bone.
- Fixed-implant-bridge: This requires 5-8 implants per jaw. The bridge cannot be removed by the patient. Cleaning is performed by the dentist and the hygienist during routine hygiene appointments.
- Clip-on denture: This requires 2-4 implants per jaw. The denture is secured in place by the implants. The denture should be removed by the patient daily for cleaning.
