Improve Your Smile for Those Summer Moments

Posted on 8/25/2016 by Dr Wael Garine
A diagram of how a dental crown works.Whether you are taking a summer selfie or being photographed at a big event like a wedding, summertime is filled with moments that are perfect for being captured on film. If you are worried about how your smile looks on camera, there are several different cosmetic treatment options to alter the appearance of your smile:

Veneers.

Veneers are coverings made of thin porcelain that fit over natural teeth, and they are used to change the shape or size of your teeth. To prepare for the procedure, your tooth has to be shaped, but the veneer covering will look and feel much like your natural teeth after placement.

Crowns.

While dental crowns are typically used as a restorative treatment, they also offer cosmetic benefits. Crowns can help treat damaged teeth, restoring the appearance and function of the tooth.

Teeth whitening.

Teeth whitening can change the appearance of your smile by brightening your teeth. However, some teeth might not be affected by whitening, so it is important to consult with a dental health professional before starting a treatment.

Gum contouring.

If you feel like your teeth are too short or that your gums show too much when you smile, gum contouring can change the shape of your gum line and reveal more of your teeth. Crown lengthening is a slightly different process that includes gum contouring, but it also includes shaping some of the exposed tooth.

Cosmetic bonding.

Cosmetic bonding can be used to add material to the tooth to restore its appearance. This is a great option for chipped teeth, and the bonding material can be matched to your natural tooth's color.

Enamel shaping.

Enamel shaping allows for minor adjustments in the shape of your teeth. If your teeth have bumps or small ridges, enamel shaping can smooth these out for a more consistent appearance.

If you are interested in changing the appearance of your smile, contact our office, and we can help you form a treatment plan based on the changes you would like to make to your smile.
